It isn’t a good year for football in Central Indiana. The Indianapolis Colts are likely without Peyton Manning for the entire season and have started off the year 0-3. North of Indy, the Purdue Boilermakers are 2-1, but the victories have come in a squeaker against Middle Tennessee State and a demolition of an unimpressive Southeast Missouri State. The Boilers fell to Rice in week two and are expected to share spots near the bottom of the Big Ten with Minnesota and rival Indiana.
And then there are the Hoosiers, who dropped to 1-3 this week after giving 371 yards in the first half alone in a 24-21 loss to North Texas on the road. The Mean Green, which has won only 14 games since 2005, held IU scoreless until 49 minutes into the game before Dusty Kiel staged a near comeback.
