The Jacksonville Jaguars lost running back Rashad Jennings
and wide receiver Cecil Shorts after each player suffered a concussion during
yesterday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills, reports the Associated Press.
Coach Mike Mularkey said Jennings’ status is uncertain
because the player will have to pass a series of NFL-mandated tests before he
can be cleared to play.
That will also be the case for Jaguars leading receiver,
Cecil Shorts III, who sustained a concussion in the fourth quarter.
Jennings sustained his head injury in the second quarter of
yesterday’s game. The running back was tripped up during a 12-yard run and was
injured when linebacker Nick Barnett landed on him. Montell Owens took over for
the Jaguars, who are already without starter Maurice Jones-Drew due to injury.
Shorts was injured in the fourth quarter of yesterday’s
matchup after making a five-yard catch. After receiving the ball, Shorts ducked
his head and was hit by Bills cornerback Ron Brooks, who led with his head and
was flagged for a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty.
