Comedian and lifelong New York Mets fan Jerry Seinfeld said he was "embarrassed" of the way the Citi Field crowd behaved at the 2013 MLB All-Star Game.Seinfeld voiced his opinion on the matter on New York's WFAN radio on Wednesday.“This is one of the lowest moments of my lifetime of Mets fandom, when the Citi Field crowd was booing (players) that they see as rivals to their Mets team,” Seinfeld told WFAN radio’s Steve Somers on Wednesday night. “And I’m standing there, I was in shock. I was embarrassed. I thought it was horrible manners.”…“These are the best players, in the game you love, that have come here to put on a show for you, and we’re booing them like 5-year-olds,” Seinfeld said. “As if there’s some sort of real animosity.”“The American League is not the Taliban,” he added. “What are we booing Miguel Cabrera (for)? … So I was very embarrassed by that.”Perhaps Seinfeld should take a page from his own book and lighten up a bit. Although booing players is certainly a gesture frowned upon, and likely one which is inappropriate in most situations, I have got to believe the fans were just having some light-hearted fun on Tuesday.Seinfeld did give the crowd credit where credit was due, though. The sitcom star applauded the reception fans gave to New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera when the game's all-time saves leader entered the game to pitch in the eighth inning. Some folks are calling it the best moment from the entire evening. I tend to agree.Via For the Win
