The New York Jets have claimed wide receiver Braylon Edwards
off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks, reports Dan Hanzus of NFL.com.
In an expected move, the New York Jets announced
Tuesday that they have been awarded wide receiver Braylon Edwards off
waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.
Hanzus notes that it’s a strange reunion considering the bad
terms under which the sides parted. Also adding to the level of awkwardness is
the fact that Edwards referred to the Jets’ front office as a group of idiots
just last week for their handling of quarterback Mark Sanchez.
Though they’re sitting at 6-7, the Jets still have a shot at
the playoffs. They are extremely thin at the wide receiver position and Edwards
could be inserted immediately, according to Hanzus.
The Jets acquired Edwards from the Cleveland Browns in 2009.
The veteran wide receiver has spent the past two seasons with the Seahawks and
San Francisco 49ers.
