Fox Sports announcer and St. Louis native Joe Buck is the best in the business. The son of the late Jack Buck finds himself in the spotlight a couple of times every year serving as the Fox's lead play-by-play man in both baseball and NFL football. Buck has worked multiple World Series and Super Bowl's during his career. But how many hockey games has he had the chance to call? Buck got his shot to call a hockey game for a few minutes during the St. Louis Blues 4-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. In the pressbox as a guest to be interviewed during the game by Blues announcers John Kelly and Darren Pang, Kelly stepped aside and let Buck call the action. Buck, to nobody's surprise, sounded quite natural calling the action. He was not sure of the names of many players on the Kings and did not know what penalty Blues defensemen Roman Polak was called for, but otherwise, Buck was flawless. Besides calling the action, there were two other notable moments during the exchange...

Blues captain rips teammates

Blues captain David Backes called out his teammates after the team got done with a "homestand from hell" as his coach called it.

St. Louis Blues: The season rests on the pads of Jaroslav Halak

St. Louis Blues' fans are suddenly asking themselves, "Is Jaroslav Halak truly that good?"  Well, since his injury, the St. Louis Blues have encountered a four game losing streak. It is hard to say what exactly the cause is.  It could be the fact that Brian Elliot has not played to the level that he did last year. Or it could be that the Blues' defense  is...

Blues recall Jake Allen

ST. LOUIS St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced the club recalled goaltender Jake Allen from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, Peoria Rivermen today. Allen, 22, has appeared in 31 games for the Rivermen this season posting a 12-16-2 record including a 2.94 goals against average, .903 save percentage and two shutouts....

Joe Buck tries his hand at announcing St. Louis Blues hockey

St. Louis native Joe Buck is a big fan of the St. Louis Blues. In fact, he's a season ticket holder. During the team's 4-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, Buck visited the broadcast booth to talk to St. Louis announcers John Kelly and Darren Pang. Pang and Kelly insisted Buck try his hand at doing play-by-play for some hockey and the results were ... interesting. He...

‘Déjà Vu All Over Again’ for St. Louis Blues Ken Hitchcock?

Ken Hitchcock and the St. Louis Blues, hot off of their stellar 2011-2012 season, thundered out of the gate in the shortened 2013 (2012-2013) campaign, posting a 6-1-0 record.  However, during the past four games, they’ve posted a 0-3-1 mark, the last three games of which have been at the once-friendly confines of Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Ken Hitchcock has seen this before...

Blues Plan To Get Back To Work

from Scott Burnside of ESPN, Many observers liked the Blues to take another step forward with a long playoff run next spring. Some, including this scribe, liked the Blues to use last season's successes to catapult themselves to the franchise's first Stanley Cup championship, much like what Los Angeles did last season. Forward T.J. Oshie and defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk...

Are the St. Louis Blues preparing to make a trade?

The 2013 season started extremely well for the St. Louis Blues. As we flipped the page on the calendar from January to February, the Blues held one of the NHL's best records of 6-1-0. Since then, there's been very few positives as the Blues rattled off five straight losses, several of which were of the blowout variety.  If you've watched the team's past few games...

Joe Buck takes over the Blues broadcast

ST. LOUIS The St. Louis Blues have been struggling of late, having registered only one point in a four-game homestand and falling to fourth in the NHL Central Division. That, however, didn't stop St. Louis native and FOX Sports broadcaster Joe Buck from an impromptu session in the booth on Monday night. Joe Buck joined Darren Pang and John Kelly with the Blues trailing the...

St. Louis Blues: Team's recent slide is frustrating

The St. Louis Blues have lost five in a row as the team heads back to where the current slide began and take on the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night. Since losing to Detroit, the Blues' recent play has been baffling and frustrating all at the same time. Dominating play at the beginning of the season, the Blues now look to be sluggish, uninspired and distracted. The boys...

Blues Wings Recap: 2.13.2013

Uggghhhh. Nice to get a point against a division team, but... Okay, let us just get through this recap. This is painful for me (as I don't drink near as much as I used to weeknights). First Period – Just as Pierre and Edso are talking about what a great rookie Barrett Jackassman was and how he totally deserved to win the Calder over Z, Tatar takes the puck...

Red Wings-Blues quick take: Wings fail their first-quarter exam in a big way

I don't know what the *#$%@& to say. The Red Wings had a 2-0 lead on the sleeping St. Louis Blues, and then, somehow, a team that'd won 3 straight and 3 straight games against St. Louis managed to find a way to wake a sleeping giant and *#$%@& themselves over as thoroughly as possible en route to a 3-2 OT loss to the Blues. The Red Wings took all of 5 shots in the...

Video- Joe Buck With The Call

I am sure a better quality video will come out, but right now this is all we have. Joe Buck called some of the Blues game tonight and while he was behind the mic, the Kings scored a goal around the 2:11 mark.
