Pro Sports Daily:
Two-time Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana is currently rehabbing from surgery to repair a torn shoulder capsule his second such procedure in the last three years. It's fair to wonder if the injury is career-ending at age 34 but the Mets left-hander has told his agent he "isn't going out like this" according to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News.
“He was able to drive his a kids lot sooner and felt better when he did it” said Chris Leible Santana's agent to Martino. “For Johan to even be able to get a good night's sleep now is something. When he looks back now (on his recovery from 2010 surgery) he realizes it did not feel the way it was supposed to. He just gutted through it.
“He feels really good which was not the case after the first surgery. He hopefully will be able to pick up a baseball when he returns (to his home in Fort Myers later in the summer).”
Santana had his surgery back in April. He had the first procedure in September 2010 and did...

This is one reason why social media can be pretty cool these days. It’s always neat to see stuff we as fans don’t get to see every day. In this example, veteran Mets’ reliever LaTroy Hawkins snaps a little photo on the team plane following a win in Minneapolis this afternoon.
Hawk posted it on his Instagram feed, and it immediately became a runaway hit with Mets fans everywhere...
At 1:47 PM I left my house to begin the journey to NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton, NY, home of the Binghamton Mets. I arrived nearly two hours later with over two hours to spare until the gates opened. I used this time to tour the campus of SUNY Binghamton University, my mother’s alma mater, and to sit down for a late lunch/early dinner meal at the Lost Dog Cafe. If you’re in the...

BYRD CELEBRATES HOME RUN NO. 21
Marlon Byrd walloped his 21st home run of the year on Tuesday and setting a new career high for the 35-year old journeyman who has delivered an unexpected solid season for the Mets. Signed solely as a favor to his agent who pleaded with the Mets to take a chance on him, Byrd has repaid the Mets in spades and has exceeded all expectations. As I mentioned...
Updating this post with some new information, this time from Andy Martino of the Daily News who also hears that it is “widely accepted” that Terry Collins will be re-signed to a new deal to manage the Mets in 2014 and beyond.
It certainly seems like nothing will keep this from happening, so get used to it.
One interesting side note to this, was Martino’s view on how the role...
With the decision having already been made that Travis d’Arnaud will not only remain with the Mets when John Buck is activated from paternity leave before today’s game, but also that the young catcher will assume the lion’s share of playing time, the Mets have certainly made the right decision.
“One of the things we wanted to see over the three days is, was he within an acceptable...
The Mets finally, FINALLY return home tonight…but it’s against the Braves. In case you missed yesterday’s game, Dillon Gee was fantastic shutting down the Twins over 7.2 innings and the Mets offense was able to put some runs on the board to support him. While the Mets have been away for the last 11 games, the Braves have been caught up in a rivalry with the Nationals regarding...
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports is reporting that Travis d’Arnaud will remain with the Mets when John Buck returns from his paternity leave on Tuesday.
They key piece from the R.A. Dickey trade last offseason, collected two more walks today and is 0-4 in in his eight plate appearances, but none of that matters as the Mets have seen enough to decide that the future is now for their...
From SB Nation’s “Talking Chop” Blog:
“Going to the game tomorrow, considering I’m 16, is wearing a braves shirt a bad idea?”
“Nah. I used to live in Brooklyn. Always wore my Braves stuff. There might be a bit of ribbing, but Mets fans are actually pretty great.”
“OMFG, I can already hear that asshole barking.”
“I am beyond ready for Gattis to be a masher again...
