Score another point in the image rehabilitation process for John Lackey. The Red Sox right-hander joined a growing number of current MLB players stating that Alex Rodriguez should not be allowed to play for the Yankees during his appeal. Said Lackey: "I’ve got a problem with it. You bet I do. How is he still playing? He obviously did something and he’s playing. I’m not sure that’s right. … It’s pretty evident he’s been doing stuff for a lot of years I’ve been facing him." We couldn't have said it better ourselves. Lackey will face The Fraudulent One on Saturday. Bravo, John Lackey!

Lackey: A 'problem' with A-Rod

With the Yankees in town, Red Sox pitcher John Lackey let it be known under no uncertain terms that he has an issue with A-Rod playing during his appeal.

John Lackey Says He Has ‘A Problem’ With A-Rod Playing

A little heightened Red Sox Yankees tension. John Lackey isn’t really one to hold back, so it comes as no surprise that he would voice his opinion on the A-rod playing while appealing suspension situation. I’ve got a problem with it. You bet I do,” Lackey said on Thursday. “How is he still playing? He obviously did something and he’s playing. I’m not sure that’s...

John Lackey’s Hard Work Finally Rewarded As Red Sox Get Much-Needed Win Over Yankees

BOSTON — It’s hard to believe that John Lackey went longer than a month without winning a ballgame. Lackey, who has been the Red Sox’ best pitcher at times this season, entered Saturday’s game having gone five straight starts without a win despite tossing at least six innings in each of those outings. He needed a victory more than ever Saturday, and he responded by turning...

Game 125: Yankees at Red Sox - Lacking fire power, Sox turn to Lackey to beat Yanks

Ben Whitehead Contributing Writer Things are turning bleak for the Boston Red Sox, who lost their third straight game and sixth of their last eight. A four-game lead in the AL East has dwindled to just one over the Tampa Bay Rays and after a 10-3 thumping by the rival New York Yankees, those in Red Sox Nation are beginning to fear the worse. The Sox (72-52) can certainly turn it...

John Lackey returns to form in Red Sox 6-1 win over Yanks

On Saturday the Red Sox faced the possibility of losing hold of sole possession of first place. A loss to the Yankees and a Tampa Bay victory would mean that the top of the AL East was once again even. But that outcome did not come to pass thanks in no small part to a member of the roster who has had a far larger than expected role in the Sox’ season spent almost entirely in first...

John Lackey: "There are a lot of things I want back" from Alex Rodriguez

Photo courtesy of TORONTO-- As if this Boston Red Sox- New York Yankees series was not exciting enough, Red Sox pitcher John Lackey may have added a little fuel to the fire. John Lackey Says Comments About Alex Rodriguez Were ‘Overblown,’ Downplays Any Extra Motivation

BOSTON — There were no beanballs, heated exchanges or extended glances. When Alex Rodriguez and John Lackey squared off at Fenway Park on Saturday, it was business as usual for both competitors. Lackey made headlines earlier this week when he spoke out about the whole A-Rod situation. According to the right-hander, it was a classic case of something being made out of nothing. “I...

A John Lackey induced basebrawl would be stupid

John Lackey, who has been proclaimed as the Boston Red Sox best pitcher this season, made news on Friday for running his mouth a little bit. This is nothing new for John Lackey who has many times made news in the media. There was the time that John Lackey predicted that his Angels would beat the Red Sox, there was the time that Lackey got mad at the Boston media because he was pitching...

John Lackey takes issue with Alex Rodriguez being allowed to play

Jonny Gomes, John Lackey Unhappy With Alex Rodriguez Playing, Affecting Playoff Race

For the first time since the Biogenesis scandal, Alex Rodriguez is in Boston and will suit up for the Yankees on Friday night at Fenway Park as they open up a three-game set with the Red Sox. That doesn’t sit well with a couple of Red Sox players. Rodriguez has been cleared to play for the remainder of the season while he appeals the 211-game suspension that was handed down to...

Preview: Yankees @ Red Sox (8/17/13)

Hiroki Kuroda (11-7, 2.33 ERA) continues his run for the Cy Young against John Lackey (7-10, 3.32 ERA) at Fenway. Kuroda’s been brilliant all year, and with CC Sabathia‘s struggles, has been the Yankees’ ace. In his last start against the Angels, he allowed three hits in eight shutout innings. He hasn’t allowed more than three runs in a start since June 30. ”His offspeed...

So, the Carmine Hose promptly slapped him around Fenway today (5 runs on 11 hits)—on the way to a much-needed 6-1 win. The victory makes Boston the only team in Major...
