Jon Embree was fired as head football coach by the University of Colorado on Sunday following two poor seasons in which the Buffaloes went 4-21. The Buffs were coming off a 1-11 season, but Embree was led to believe his job was safe. He was emotional when he learned of his fate, and raised the point that African-American head football coaches don’t often get second chances as head coaches once they’ve lost a job. On Wednesday, Embree took that point a step further when he told the SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio show “Evan & Phillips in the Morning” that he believed his race played a role in his firing. “I get it, you know, 4-21 is not good, but there’s a lot that went into that,” Embree told hosts Evan Cohen and Steve Phillips. “You know, Gene Chizik was 5-19 and got another job. So to say basically that it was just the record, I don’t buy that.” Embree recognizes the season went poorly, but he attributed a lot of that to youth. “We had some bad losses. Racism in Colorado coach's firing?

A former Colorado head coach believes that racism was at play when Jon Embree was fired by the school after two unsuccessful seasons.

Fired Colorado Coach Jon Embree is an Immature Disgrace to College Football

Jon Embree spent four years in Boulder as Buffaloes football player in the 1980s and prior to accepting the head coaching position in 2011, he previously spent ten seasons on the Unversity of Colorado coaching staff.  He was considered a lifetime Buff with deep ties to the CU community but a 4-21 record in two seasons led to his dismissal this week. As a respected member in the...

Former Colorado coach Bill McCartney: Jon Embree wasn’t given more time at Colorada because he’s black

The firing of football coach Jon Embree is slowly becoming a PR nightmare for the University of Colorado. The school believed that they would just fire their second year coach after he amassed a two-year record of 4-21 and quietly move on to their new coach. But the firing has been anything other than quiet for the university. Things began to head south for the university when an...

Jon Embree broke the Unwritten Rule of the Race Card

Four days after Jon Embree was fired as Head Football Coach of the Colorado Buffaloes the country is still buzzing from the ongoing debate about the level of racism involved in hiring decisions in College Football.

Embree never had chance at Colorado

The dirty trick played on Jon Embree wasn't when he was fired at Colorado this week. It came when he was hired. He thought he had gotten the job of digging out a once nationally relevant program. Nope. He was hired because he was cheap, he was a former star CU player who had ties to the great-old days and he was black. "It was never about me doing it again,''...

Mangino coached the Jawhawks for seven years from 2002 – 2009 with an overall record of 50 – 48. Mangino decided to clear that rumor up today though by taking to his twitter account and publicly stating that he’s asked for his name...
