Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stood by coach Jason Garrett's questionable decisions in Sunday's overtime loss at Arizona. Jones, speaking on his weekly radio show on KRLD-FM, wouldn't bite when asked about the two critical decisions Garrett made at the end of regulation Sunday. The decisions basically amounted to the Cowboys "icing" their own kicker. "I'm not going to second-guess those timeouts at all," Jones said. "We lost that game, in my mind, because early in the ballgame we didn't take advantage of great field position. When you let them hang around like that you've got a good chance to pay the price, and that's what we did later in the ballgame." With the score tied, Garrett did not call a timeout after a long completion that put the Cowboys at the fringe of kicker Dan Bailey's range. Instead of running at least one more play to get closer, the Cowboys allowed the clock to run until quarterback Tony Romo stopped it by spiking the ball with seven seconds left. Then Garrett did burn one of the Cowboys' two timeouts just as Bailey was about to kick. That resulted in Bailey taking what amounted to a practice kick from 49 yards, and making it. When play resumed, Bailey's second attempt fell short. The Cardinals won the coin toss in overtime and drove for the game-winning score. "I'd like to have lined up there and made the field goal," Jones said. "We all would like to see that." Replays showed that moments before the kick, special teams coach Joe DeCamilis became visibly upset, then Garrett called the timeout after being urged by kicking coach Chris Boniol. "My point is, that upon sleeping on this thing a couple of nights, I'm OK with how we're doing there," Jones said. "I understand the process that Jason went through. I understand the process that we were going through relative to how he was getting his input. That's sound. That's well thought out. But when you get down to the actual decision that's 'yes' or 'no,' we're going to leave that in his Garrett's hands." Follow Keith Whitmire on Twitter: @Keith_Whitmire
