Uniondale, NY -- Milan Jurcina and Nino Niederreiter are making progress to return to the Islanders lineup.

“Jurcina , I think, is ready to go when called upon,” Islanders head coach Jack Capuano said following his teams 3-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. “Nino should skate with the team if not by the end of the week then by the first of the week.”

Both players have yet to suit for the Islanders this season due to groin injuries suffered during training camp.

Jurcina has participated in the Islanders last two practices and was on the ice Tuesday morning skating. Niederreiter skated along with Jurcina Tuesday morning.

Jurcina could be ready to return to the Islanders lineup in the coming games.
