Everyone anticipated that the Miami Marlins were going to be offensively challenged after trading the likes of Jose Reyes and others during their offseason fire-sale. However, after 19 contests the Marlins are a pathetic 4-15 nestled in the basement of the NL East . In 688 plate appearances Marlins hitters have gone yard only six times on the season, that is an average of one home run every 114 at bats.  Their franchise player Giancarlo Stanton has yet to hit a round tripper and the only player with more than one is team leader Justin Ruggiano who has muscled out three. Greg Dobbs, Miguel Olivo and Adeiny Hechavarria are the only other Marlins players to have gone yard this season. To put this power shortage in perspective, Atlanta Braves slugger and major league home run leader Justin Upton has crushed nine round trippers, three more than the entire Marlins team.
