MARTINSVILLE RECAP: Most recently, Kasey Kahne finished fourth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway on April 7 to record his fourth straight top-10 result. Kahne improves to fifth in the driver standings and trails leader and teammate Jimmie Johnson by 32 points. TIME WARNER CABLE: Time Warner Cable will adorn the hood of Kahne’s No. 5 Chevrolet SS this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway and will be the primary sponsor on the car for four more Sprint Cup Series races this year: Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on May 5, Darlington (S.C.) Raceway on May 11, Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway on May 26 and Kansas Speedway on Oct. 6. Kahne welcomed Time Warner Cable on the hood of his No. 5 Chevrolet for the first time at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Sprint Cup Series event on Oct. 13, 2012. BIRTHDAY BOY: Kahne, driver of the No. 5 Time Warner Cable Chevrolet SS, will celebrate his 33rd birthday on Wednesday, April 10. In 10 years of Sprint Cup Series racing, Kahne has tallied 15 wins, 26 pole positions, 72 top-five finishes and 125 top-10s in 330 starts. SEASON-TO-DATE: In the first six races this season, Kahne ranks first among full-time Cup drivers with a 5.8 average starting position and 187 of the fastest laps posted, as well as a first-place average ranking of 4.400 for green-flag speed. He also ranks second in fastest drivers late in a run (6.400), has the third-fastest speed in traffic (7.667) and is the third-fastest among drivers early in a run with a 5.800 ranking. Kahne has started five of the first six events inside the top six, including two outside pole positions. KAHNE AT TEXAS: Kahne went to Victory Lane at Texas Motor Speedway on April 9, 2006, after starting from the pole position and leading 63 laps. The driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet SS also has four top-five finishes and five top-10s in 17 Cup starts at the Fort Worth, Texas, oval. Most recently, Kahne scored a seventh-place result in this race last April 2012 and spent 92.2 percent of laps inside the top 15. TEXAS LOOP DATA: According to NASCAR loop data during the last 16 Sprint Cup Series races at Texas, Kahne ranks eighth in fastest laps run (202) and ninth in green-flag passes (1,133). TEXAS TEST: Kahne and his Hendrick Motorsports teammates will spend Thursday testing the Chevrolet SS at Texas Motor Speedway during the Sprint Cup Series test session as they prepare for Saturday night’s race at the 1.5-mile oval. Kahne has collected nine of his 15 career Cup wins and 15 of his 26 pole positions on tracks one-to-two miles in length. Specifically at 1.5-mile racetracks, there are only eight active drivers who have more career wins than Kahne, who has five.  CHASSIS CHOICE: Crew chief Kenny Francis will unload Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 5-779 for Saturday night’s event at Texas. Most recently, Kahne lined up fourth in this car at the March 10 Las Vegas event, led a race-high 114 laps and crossed the finish line second. TEXAS DOUBLE: In addition to his duties behind the wheel of the No. 5 Time Warner Cable Chevrolet SS this weekend, Kahne will pilot JR Motorsports’ No. 5 Chevrolet in the 300-mile NASCAR event on Friday. Kahne, who finished third in this event a year ago, won the April 12, 2005, contest after leading 47 laps. HENDRICK AT TEXAS: In 24 races (97 starts) at Texas, Hendrick Motorsports has four wins, 23 top-five finishes and 42 top-10s. Johnson most recently went to Victory Lane for the organization in November 2012 after starting from the pole position. Johnson ranks tied for second with nine top-five finishes, 14 top-10s and a 9.3 average finish among drivers all-time at Texas. Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. rank tied for first all-time with two pole positions. SEASON-TO-DATE: Hendrick Motorsports quartet of drivers ranks inside the top 10 in several season-to-date categories, notably including average running position, driver rating and laps led. Johnson leads all three categories with a 6.296 average running position; 116.5 driver rating and 430 laps led. Earnhardt has the fifth-best average running position (11.099), while Kahne’s ranks seventh (11.686). Gordon’s average running position of 12.451 is eighth-best among Cup competitors this season. LAP LEADERS: Hendrick Motorsports drivers have led 40 percent of the 1,983 laps run this season with Johnson tallying the most (430 laps led). Kahne ranks fourth with 223 laps led, while Gordon is eighth after pacing the field for 97 circuits in the first six Cup races this season. Earnhardt’s 47 laps led rank him 10th. KASEY KAHNE, DRIVER, NO. 5 TIME WARNER CABLE CHEVROLET SS (ON WINNING A RACE FOR TEAM OWNER RICK HENDRICK.): “Every day I wake up and know that I’m part of Hendrick Motorsports and it feels good. Then to get a win early in the season in such a competitive series and do it in the No. 5 car, I feel really good about that. It’s great to get those post-win calls from Mr. H (Rick Hendrick, team owner), and when he’s excited and happy that we were able to pull it off and put an entire race together and win, it makes it all pretty exciting and fun.”
