Yesterday’s big news in the college football world? Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron was spotted wearing a protective boot on his right foot ahead of the Tide’s matchup with Virginia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game. The two-time national champion is reported to have had a nasty ingrown toenail that required recent surgery.
Fans have been having a bit of fun with McCarron’s injury, and some have even gone as far as to take shots at his girlfriend – Katherine Webb. Webb responded to one last night on Twitter – her defense was epic.
@Joey_Thabet he had surgery. We will see who the whimps are tomorrow

I’m not sure if she’s implying that Virginia Tech is wimpy here, but I like her fire regardless. Stand up for your man, K-Webb.

DON'T BE ALARMED
Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron was spotted wearing a walking boot ahead of his team's opening game against Virginia Tech.
You better bet that Alabama is ready to start the season in the Georgia Dome against Virginia Tech Saturday. Because if they’re not- they’re not the team they should be. But if you, as a fan, need to get your last minute head lines and information headed into the starting whistle, I’ve got you covered.
DON’T TAKE VIRGINIA TECH LIGHTLY
Reason one being- your team shouldn’t...
Alabama is heavily favored over Virginia Tech in this weekend’s Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, considering the Tide won last year’s BCS National Championship Game and have one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the country in A.J. McCarron. But they may have a little issue they’ve stayed mum about ahead of the matchup – McCarron’s bruised foot.
McCarron was spotted by ESPN’s...
Last night there were rumors that AJ McCarron had been walking around in a boot before the Virginia Tech Hokies – Alabama Crimson Tide game. In what I call “Bootgate”, the internet argued whether or not the this would impact the game. Well @BarrettSallee is currently at the Georgia Dome and confirmed that McCarron was in fact, not in a boot. Rest easy Alabama fans. Your star...

Alabama rolled over Virginia Tech in a 35-10 show-of-strength.
Quarterback AJ McCarron did not have the best day with his 10-for-24 outing.
McCarron did play a small role in the dynamic day of Christion Jones. Jones caught a touchdown from his quarterback and returned both a kickoff and a punt for scores.

Exhale, Tuscaloosa. It's OK. Probably.
A photo surfaced Friday apparently showing Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron in a walking boot as he exited the team bus in Atlanta ahead of the Crimson Tide's Saturday game against Virginia Tech.
But two sources tell FOXSports.com college football insider Clay Travis that the boot is merely a precautionary measure.

It really doesn’t matter how you look at Alabama’s win over Virginia Tech, it was ugly. Even the most cynical Crimson Tide fans probably would agree with that conclusion, considering Alabama was held to 206 total yards in its 35-10 victory...
Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron offers a primer for what it takes to fit in with the top-ranked Crimson Tide football team.
For starters, don't fixate on the shot at a historic three-peat, BCS-or-bust expectations or the anointment by pollsters as the team to beat.
It's all about Virginia Tech, taking it one game at a time, staying focused and all the other cliches that...

Remember when Major League Baseball was embarrassed they had an All-Star Game end in a tie, and commissioner Bud Selig decided that the overblown travesty would never happen again on his watch? The next year baseball...
“Beamer Ball” couldn’t keep up with the Jones, and the result was a pair of dynamic kick returns that greatly aided Alabama’s season-opening 35-10 win over Virginia Tech in Atlanta. Jones scored on a 72-yard punt return, a 94-yard kickoff return, and threw in a 38-yard touchdown reception from AJ McCarron.
None the less, it was Hokies’ defense against the Alabama Crimson Tide offense in the first game of the season. Although Virginia Tech’s defense had their fair share of broken up passes and loss of yards, Alabama’s offense didn’t help the matter much either, A.J. McCarron and crew dominated every part of the field.
