CHIP Kelly says he doesn't NEED a mobile QB to run his system.

Total bulls***.

As OC for Oregon in 2007-2008 Kelly's QB's finished NO LOWER than 3rd in rushing yards.

BOTH times in under 16 games the QB had over 100 rushing attempts DESPITE having a strong running game already.

Why gamble your QB's health if you can already run?

You know what? We'll set that aside. He was after all only the OC. Perhaps he was simply delivering the system that the HC wanted.

So the question becomes "What would Kelly do when HE called the shots?"

Lets see!

Not only did the system continue to emphasize QB running, but the QB started to catch 1 pass per year. So not only did Kelly want the QB to be able to run, now he also required him to have soft hands.

Look, I'm not suggesting that Nick Foles won't win the starting gig, but I am saying that if he does then Kelly will have to alter everything about the system he's run for 6 years, based on what he's seen from Foles over 6 real games, OTA's, Training Camp, and a few series during preseason football.

Seems like a lot.

  • Idk about him NEEDING a mobile qb but he said in the quote ez put up that he WANTS one. As for drafting Barkley if u wanna believe everything Kelly has said believe why he drafted him. Cause at that point it was the best value. What's funny is all this talk about how Kelly doesn't want Vick from ez is Kelly could have got rid of Vick told the team to man up and get behind foles. If he doesn't want Vick why give him the shot to start?

Flip who u think is gonna be dmc's back up. My cousin is looking to draft Murray, who looks like a beast, in his league. We know about the injury problem, but we also know about dmc's. with them focusing on the run we both think the back up could see time if dmc goes down again. He has shady cj and forte already in a ppr and flex player league. Also think he's getting cowboys back up randle. Or it might be one or the other idk. But was looking at tape on latavius Murray and he looked good plus his size and speed is amazing.
  • It's hard to say because Rashad Jennings is looking for that spot as well and is currently listed at #2 on the depth chart. And don't forget Coach is going to be looking to get more touches for Marcel Reece.

Also from a football stand point, if we can't get any pass rush, we're going to end up being behind early in games. In that case there won't be as much running the ball. I think the run game and the pass rush will be connected in 2013. That's why this preseason I'll be keeping a WATCHFUL eye out.

While I'm excited at the real life direction of the Raiders, at this point I'd call us fantasy football poison. Grabbing guys AFTER the Draft? Murray is cool is you can afford to stash him. IN The Draft? I'd avoid Raiders like V.D. this year.

FYI: Until we can get a look at the O-line, I'd ditch all Eagles except for Shady as well.
  • Too late he got him. It's ok though his team is stacked n his league is retarded. They had a bidding war for Crabtree.
  • OMG, I gotta join!

Last year my woman won her league championship largely due to her own solid instincts. However she did get some absolutely KILLER advice, and her league was almost as bad as your cousin's.

    Crabtree....oh my god.
  • It was one where u nominate two guys a day and place points on them. If no one out bids u in 18 hours u get him. Welker went a day before Crabtree and not for too many more points I think.
  • If Kelly can't go without one then why not just name Vick or Dixon the starter already? Hmmm.
  • That's an excellent question. More and more fans are starting to ask it.

But again, why argue with me? Just look up the page, and see what Kelly has done for the last 6 years. Do you honestly believe that now that he's facing the biggest test of his career, that NOW he's just going to scrap what he does best? Do you really?
  • Idk but wasn't Vick the bargaining tool they used to lure in Kelly? Wasn't everyone, me included, b!tching about that?
  • Actually it was the chance to work with Vick AND Foles. That sort of indecisiveness was one more reason I didn't want him.
