ARLINGTON, Texas Ian Kinsler's defensive play in the seventh inning Tuesday night was so good manager Ron Washington gave him a salute. Kinsler's snare of an Alex Rios grounder up the middle and throw to first was good enough that Washington gave Kinsler a military salute from the dugout. It's the kind of reward that perfection merits. That's what Washington thought of the play. "That was a very sharp play," Washington said. "He made it as perfectly as you could make. That's when I saluted because it was perfect. That's the only way he could do it catch the ball and rid of it and let whatever happens happen." Kinsler didn't see the salute but chuckled when he saw the replay. As for the play itself, it wasn't even one Kinsler was supposed to make.
