First Pitch: The Ideal Player, Robbie Grossman, Free Matt Hague
Today I put up a feature on the site talking about Robbie Grossman versus the ideal corner outfielder. The big knock on Grossman is that he doesn’t have the speed to play center field, and doesn’t have the power to play a corner outfield spot. People who are in favor of Grossman like the overall package, even though he doesn’t profile as the ideal player.

Robbie Grossman Versus the Ideal Corner Outfielder
Robbie Grossman became the first minor league player to walk 100 times and score 100 runs in the same season since Nick Swisher in 2004.
Almost all of the top 100 prospect lists have been released at this point, with the Pittsburgh Pirates having anywhere from four to six players on the lists. Most of the players listed had pretty consistent rankings across the board. Gerrit Cole...

Robbie Grossman Fractures Hamate Bone
Bad news out of the Arizona Fall League this week. Kristy Robinson reports that Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Robbie Grossman has fractured his hamate bone, and will have surgery to repair the injury later this week. The injury will end Grossman’s AFL season, although he shouldn’t miss any time during the 2012 season.
The big downside to a hamate injury is that it...
