Kobe Bryant likely can't wait for this frustrating season to be over. Between the coaching change, injuries to himself and others, chemistry issues--the man did not want one of his final seasons in the game to go like this. He didn't want to be fighting for the No. 8 seed in the post season.
Well, chances are his fight is done after suffering an ankle injury--possibly the Achilles tendon--Friday night against the Golden State Warriors.
With less than a minute to go Kobe was fouled by Klay Thompson. After making his free throws he left the game, slowly making his way to the locker room.
The team wasted little time in announcing what they thought the injury likely was:
Lakers PR team saying Kobe Bryant suffered a probable torn Achilles in tonight’s game. He’ll have a MRI tomorrow to confirm.

Kobe confirmed that he thought it was his Achilles when the play happened. An MRI will be done ASAP to confirm that is indeed what the injury is.
If that is the case, you have to think that this could be the end for him. After surgery recovery from a torn Achilles takes a year. Kobe has been talking as if next season could be his last. If he is going to miss it due to injury you would think a competitor of his nature would want to come back, but there also comes a time when the body has had enough.
It would be a horrible way for a historic career to end, but it could happen. Hopefully not....but it could...
On a bright note, the team still won, 118-116, and remain a game in front of Utah for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The rest of the Lakers will have to really pick it up if they are going to make it. Their last two games are not going to be easy (San Antonio and Houston).
Utah on the other hand has a much easier road with games against Minnesota and Memphis
