LOS ANGELES Its only an opinion, but its Kobe Bryants, so were listening. In a radio interview on ESPNLA 710 Wednesday afternoon, Bryant spoke at length about the free agent sweepstakes that are raging in Los Angeles this summer. Asked about his teammate, Dwight Howard, and the Clippers Chris Paul, Bryant didnt mince words: "I think at the end of the day, everybody stays," he said. Bryant seemed optimistic about the Lakers chances next season if they were to bring Howard back, and he said that the team needs more length on the perimeter above all else. He didnt offer much new information on his own recovery timetable from his April Achilles tear hes shooting for November or December, he said but he added that hes more mobile than ever and no longer feels stiffness or soreness when he wakes up in the morning. "I think its going to be fine," Bryant said. "I think its going to be more than fine." Any talk of next season with the Lakers, though, involves two very large elephants in the room: Bryants Achilles and Howards presence. On Wednesday, Bryant drew upon his own flirtation with free agency in 2004 in his discussion of the decision Howard faces. "You just really try to think with two hats on," Bryant said of the decision. "You have to look at if from a business perspective and from your careers point of view, in terms of which team you believe youre going to have the most success with." Bryant said that sometimes, those two perspectives dont align, and he acknowledged that it can be difficult to approach the situation from a business perspective. Players can too often wind up "splitting hairs," he said, and in the end, it was the Lakers history and tradition that led him to re-sign with the team nearly a decade ago. That all sounds like it should bode well for Howards impending decision, but Bryants memories of his 2004 decision focus largely on one man whos no longer a factor: Dr. Jerry Buss, who passed away last winter. "I bet on Dr. Buss being able to do what he said he could," Bryant said. "Ultimately, that was it." Unfortunately for the Lakers, that wont be it for Howard, and the teams front office moves have come under some criticism as power has shifted away from the late owner in recent years. Bryant said that he spoke to Howard within the past few weeks and that hell check in again once the big man has visited other teams and gotten further into the decision process. Players like Howard "dont grow on trees," Bryant said, stressing how important it is that the team re-sign him, and he cited the Lakers history with good centers as making the team a perfect fit for the free agent. "You have to be able to keep him and lock him in with this franchise," Bryant said.

Numbers don't add up on some Howard reports

The Dwight Howard sweepstakes reached the apex of their annoyingness late last week. This may prove untrue in a week, when intrepid journalists start rummaging through Dwight Howard's trash for clues as to his impending free-agency decision, but I'm going to go ahead and say it anyway. It might be a quiet kind of annoying, a subtle kind, but it's the worst. It's...

NBA superstar Chris Paul was recently spied looking very fashionable as he was out and about with his wife Jada. Dwight Howard Doesn’t Want to Watch NBA Finals (Video)

I am always interested to see whether NBA players continue watching the playoffs even after their team has been eliminated from contention. You always find some that are adamant about not watching the Finals at all and according to TMZ you can include one Dwight Howard in that category. Dwight was leaving a restaurant last night and when asked by TMZ if he was watching the game inside...

Metta World Peace: Dwight Howard Won’t Leave the Lakers Because I’ve Got his Balls

Metta World Peace has always been known to drop some rather um.. odd quotes when asked questions. So perhaps this newest set of quotes shouldn’t be that big of a deal. Regardless, I’m more than positive you’ll be shaking your head by the end of the interview. Word Peace was on SportsRadio 610 in Houston, and [...]

So, the Clippers have narrowed their sights down to just Doc Rivers, but they’re not offering the Celtics anything to free the coach from his contract. Sound fishy?
