Kurt Busch is trying to make his way into this year’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase but the driver of the No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet is also hopeful to race the IndyCar season finale at Auto Club Speedway on Oct. 19. The race at Auto Club Speedway is a night race and Busch wants to compete in it in preparation of a run in the Indianapolis 500 next year. “Now that it has settled in, and I was able to find some speed and feel comfortable, I’d like to do another oval before I race Indy next year,” Busch told reporters at Watkins Glen as he was testing his Sprint Cup car. Auto Club Speedway in Fontana is the only remaining oval race on IndyCar’s schedule. If Busch is able to compete in both the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day he will become the first driver to do so since Robby Gordon in 2004.
