When Kwame Brown was picked first overall in the 2002 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards, expectations were high. After all, the great Michael Jordan himself was the one who wanted Kwame. People were wondering if Kwame would be the second coming of Kevin Garnett.
As we all know, this couldn't be further from the truth. Brown turned out to be an absolute scrub, and one of the biggest busts in NBA history, if not the biggest.
Granted, Kwame wasn't that bad in Washington DC. He showed occasional flashes, but nothing the Wizards could consistently count on. Unbelievably enough, Kwame ended up leaving Washington after an argument with Gilbert Arenas. Brown wanted a bigger role.
He certainly had the opportunity with the Los Angeles Lakers, who traded Caron Butler for Kwame. I'm sure if the Lakers didn't get Pau Gasol for Brown, the whole city would have been up in arms.
