The Rhino and Compass:
Good morning. I’m ready for this weekend. You?
Apparently the Oregon Ducks are going to the Pro Bowl.
Given what I know about O.Co Coliseum, I’m just surprised nothing caught fire.
We have our first team in a League Championship Series, and it is the Dodgers.

Many were surprised when it was announced on Sunday night that tight end Colt Lyerla was leaving the Oregon Ducks football program. Lyerla had problems throughout his college football career, but a lot of people probably figured the two sides would work things out. Instead, Lyerla has left the team, dropped out of school and […]
EUGENE- To no one's surprise, less than 24 hours after the departure of tight end Colt Lyerla, the Oregon Ducks were already onto Husky prep week, the absence of a former star already in the rear view mirror.
Not bad, Ducks. Not bad.
What a performance by the Ducks Saturday. Mariota, an early Heisman Trophy favorite, passed for 261 yards in the first half and Oregon racked up 415 total yards prior to the break en route to a 43-16 lead.
The Ducks have scored 31 of their 39 offensive touchdowns on drives of less than two minutes, including 5-of-8 against the Buffaloes.
They put up some...
Colt Lyerla quit yesterday.
He was suspended from Saturday's game for a violation of team rules, had a meeting with the coach Sunday, announced he that he loved Oregon and was leaving on good terms. He's not transferring, but rather dropping out of school to prepare for the NFL Combine and a shot at pro football.
The decision leaves a big question mark on his resume with...
After being suspended for the Colorado game, Oregon Ducks tight end Colt Lyerla has withdrawn from the school altogether - although he does so on good terms.
Oregon’s players definitely have the right to be confident heading into any matchup, but they’d be wise to take a few of their opponents more seriously than others. The Ducks travel to Husky Stadium for a tilt with No. 16 Washington this Saturday in what’s being billed as a “blackout” for fans, so the atmosphere is expected to be pretty rowdy. Still, Oregon sophomore tight...
Honestly, it's Marcus Mariota's world and we all just live in it.There are some things that have impressed me this college football season, Mariota being one of them. The Oregon Ducks quarterback just rolls up high numbers, runs to daylight and continues to take Oregon to heights unknown. This week, the numbers weren't bad. The Ducks feasted on the Colorado Buffaloes...
Oregon's season has come with a few speed bumps, but the No. 2 Ducks have managed just fine.
Star running back De'Anthony Thomas sprained his ankle; tight end Colt Lyerla is gone, although his departure is not expected to have much impact.
Next up for Oregon (5-0, 2-0 Pac-12) is Saturday's game at Washington (4-1, 1-1).
Lyerla left the team Sunday, a day after he missed...
Washington just lost a heartbreaker, 31-28, to the No. 5 team in the country, the Stanford Cardinal. But the Huskies will have no time to lick their wounds – the No. 2 ranked Oregon Ducks are coming to town this weekend.
The school has been hyping this one up for a few weeks now, and has released a two-part video series announcing a stadium “blackout” for the affair. Here...
The 2014 NFL Pro Bowl uniforms received a bold new makeover, with styling reminiscent of college football fashions. Fans have likened the threads to those worn by the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers football teams. The Nike-designed gridiron gear is a break from the traditional red and blue hues typically associated with the Pro Bowl game.
The game’s top players will take...
