Right after last season ended, Nate Burleson promised that he would be back with the Lions.  After suffering a broken leg in the Monday Night Football game against the Bears in October, many thought that the 31-year old would be a salary cap casualty.  But true to his word, Burleson restructured his contract Thursday and to prove that he did, he tweeted a picture of it. Do yourself a favor and follow Nate Burleson.  He’s one of the more personable athletes out there. Financial details were not released, but it was important that the Lions held on to Burleson for a few reasons.  For one, he is the consummate professional and from all accounts, a terrific teammate.  He’s a fan favorite mainly because of his personality and his willingness to put the team first.  And thirdly, he’s a decent underneath weapon for Matthew Stafford when healthy.  With Ryan Broyles’ status for the beginning of 2013 in question because of a torn ACL, Burleson will prove to be a crucial target over the middle. Lions’ GM Martin Mayhew is trying to work on a contract extension for Stafford that will make his upcoming $20 million cap hit more friendly.  Last week, center Dominic Raiola agreed to a restructured deal.
