Found August 26, 2013 on College Spun:
It’s Monday of the first “game week” of 2013, and fans have been going nuts at the release of official depth charts and injury reports. There was a big spot up for grabs in the Louisville backfield, and today we got a bit of resolution — head Coach Charlie Strong has named Senorise Perry the Cardinals’ starting running back for their opening game this weekend. Perry and Auburn transfer Michael Dyer were fighting for the lead spot before Strong named the starter this afternoon. Perry was the second-leading rusher on last year’s team with 705 yards and led the team in touchdowns with 11. He is bouncing back from a season-ending right anterior cruciate ligament tear he suffered November 10th at Syracuse. Dyer is the former Auburn Tiger who took part in the National Championship Game a few years ago. The Cardinals open their season this Sunday vs. Ohio University at 3:30 on ESPN2.

Senorise Perry Will Start At Running Back In Louisville’s Season Opener

The official depth chart that was released via the University of Louisville’s website last night indicates that Dominique Brown, Senorise Perry and Michael Dyer could all three start for the Cardinals season opener against Ohio on Sunday. Regardless what the depth chart says, we all know that only one running back will be running onto the field with the first team offense on Sunday...

Louisville Football Position Preview: Defensive Line

As an opponent to the University of Louisville football program this season one of my biggest concerns may be an area that likely doesn’t get enough consideration.  The Defensive Line. With the interior presence of veterans Brandon Dunn and Roy Philon you have the nucleus of the line that defines strength within.  The two modest size anchors combine for 590 pounds of force up...

Strong: Polls are secondary to playing your best

Expectations are high for the 2013 University of Louisville football team but Charlie Strong says he’s not feeling any pressure to win “a certain way” in order to  impress the voters in the college football polls. “No I really don’t. I tell our players, ‘As long as our coaches prepare you the right way and you go out with the right mental approach to the game. On that...

The Louisville Football Schedule: Was I Right Or Was I Right?

Earlier this summer I wrote an article about Louisville’s schedule and why it isn’t the end of the world. When I wrote that article, it was amidst an uproar regarding Louisville and the strength of their schedule. While UK fans and the rest of the college football world were bashing the strength of Louisville’s schedule in its relativity to BCS talks, Louisville fans were constantly...

Taking a look at the Louisville depth chart: Defense

I already gave some thoughts on the Louisville offense, now let’s talk about the defense. Along the defensive front, no shockers here. Louisville will have Lorenzo Mauldin and Marcus Smith starting at defensive end, with Brandon Dunn and Roy Philon holding it down in the middle. I expect those four to be very productive for the Cards this year, and in particular, I believe Marcus...

New York Times profiles UofL success story

The University of Louisville’s phenomenal success across the board in athletics is due in large part to its relationship with ESPN and the ensuing national exposure that resulted, according to a story in Sunday’s New York Times: The boost has resulted in a building boom of athletic facilities while the programs themselves are competing for national honors. Whose Got the Guns--Louisville's Michael Dyer or Texas A&M's Ben Malena?

The Louisville Cardinals and Texas A&M Aggies are going to be two of the best teams in college football this season. Both have Heisman-caliber quarterbacks, solid wide receivers, and a running back that you don't want to arm wrestle. Clearly both guys have spent some time in the weight room and have no intention of dropping a ball or getting stripped this season. But...
