ESPN’s Andy Katz reported over the summer that Louisville and North Carolina were being courted by the Naismith Hall-of-Fame to feature next season’s Hall-of-Fame Tip Off Tournament. That became official this afternoon as ESPN confirmed that both Louisville and North Carolina have agreed to participate in the event. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and has been played for the past two seasons at the Mohegan Sun arena in Connecticut. Kentucky won the first annual tournament in 2011, while Ohio State defeated Washington State on Sunday to claim the 2012 tournament title. Richmond, Holy Cross, Hofstra, and Belmont will join Louisville and North Carolina in next season’s tournament field. Basically, what I’m telling you is that there is a good chance the Cards and the Tar Heels will play early on next season. This should be exciting.
