MAN UP!!!!

Posted December 04, 2012

MAN Press employs a CB playing under and inside the WR, because HE HAS TO! You can't play Man from deeper than the WR, because you don't know where he's going. When you play deeper and outside to make YAC preventing tackles, that is called ZONE.

When the Safeties blow coverage assignments over the top, CB’s don’t have someone to hand the WR off to and now the CB is trailing a guy who should be bracketed under and over. This is BASIC COVER-2 concept. When a team walks a Safety up the CB has the WR for the entire play unless the Single High rotates his way (generally by design). But when the Safety reads wrong or gets frozen on play action, there is NO ONE left around the hash marks to defend the deep ball. (Maybe you've seen that play this season?) This leaves a CB thinking “OH SH**!”, (because he now has to trail a guy he was looking to hand-off) and he ends up playing catch-up and drawing flags and sometimes getting burned.

This is a highly fixable problem in the offseason, but as Todd Bowles said on the November 29th “we're playing our best guys," If there was somebody that definitely could play better, they'd be playing." It’s fixable; it’s just not In-season fixable, because we need new players to fix it.

Look, I don't care where you get your information, but please go get some. If you don’t want to listen to me, that’s fine. Don’t.  But PLEASE look this stuff up anywhere else. It’s literally everywhere.

And this thing where you all think the owner sucks, and the GM sucks, and all the coaches suck, and the players all suck, is just plain ridiculous. You sound like crybabies. When the spark plugs go, a grown man doesn't junk his whole engine when he knows it has good parts in it. He replaces those bad spark plugs and gets back on the road. Act like grown men.

  • Personally, I believe Todd Bowles is in over his head.. This team has gone off the deep end w/ out Juan!

Also - I was listening to WIP today... I forget what former player was saying this but, he said: "Sit 23 and 24 & Start Curtis Marsh." He was pumping up Marsh Like crazy! He went so far as to say: "Put Marsh on Vincent Jackson and let's see if he has balls."
  • I think the DC job is too big for Todd as well. I was PUMPED to see him come here as a Secondary coach, especially since they stopped using the Wide 9 so much towards the end of last year.

I figured Castillo would assert himself and they would use it sparingly this year as well and Todd would enhance all the high priced talent. Instead what we got was the first 7-8 games of last year again.

I think the numbers they need to sit are 29 and 42, but according to Bowles they don't have better.
  • You're on the money about Castillo.
  • they just cant handle dez or miles
  • Theres no doubt they need better help over the top. Dashon Goldson from San Fran would be a major upgrade. But their CB's especially Nnamdi is getting smoked in the secondary.
  • Man Nnamdi manned up and after he came back from the injury proceeded to get toasted for the rest of the game.
