Manny-papi Via NESN:

Manny Ramirez recently praised Toronto's hiring of Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell and said that Toronto was team that he wanted to play for.

Now, he's been spotted visiting Ontario's capital city coincidentally on the first two days of the free agency period, according to the Toronto Sun.

Toronto has been considered by many to be one of the few "good fits" for Manny, so his presence served to further speculation.

Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos refused to talk about the situation.

"I wouldn’t comment on player rumors either way," he said.

I hope this does happen.  Not that we need another (potentially) big bat in the AL East, but the several Sox-Jays matchup throughout the season could use a little spice.

Although, I admit that it's a bit sad to see Manny openly campaigning to try to catch on with a team.  Karma's a bitch, I guess.

In other Sox news, via WEEI:

According to a baseball source, the Red Sox contact Justin Duchscherer to express interest in the 32-year-old right-hander. The one-time Sox minor leaguer (he was dealt to the Rangers in 2001 in exchange for Doug Mirabelli), Duchscherer was 2-1 with a 2.89 ERA in five starts last year before undergoing season-ending hip surgery. He had missed all of the 2009 season while recovering from elbow surgery and being treated for depression.

It's nice that Duchscherer and Young (new pitching coach) have spent the past eight seasons together, but I think I'll pass on a pitcher whose body is falling apart faster than the chick from Nightmare before Christmas.

Although I don't imagine a training camp invite with a non-guaranteed contract would be the end of the world.  I'm just hoping Theo has a better plan for the bullpen this year than the usual train of retreads he carts through Fenway every spring.
