This is a moment Melky Cabrera would probably like to have back. During the third inning of Thursday night’s Blue Jays-Angels game, Erick Aybar hit a single to Cabrera in left. Ordinarily, this would be common practice for Cabrera, who would simply pick the ball up and fire it to the cutoff man. But this was nothing close to ordinary. Cabrera indeed picked the ball up. He wound up to throw the ball to the infield, but there was only one problem — the ball fell out of his hands as he cocked back. He recovered and ended up doing it right the second time, but it was too late. Mark Trumbo, who started at first base, had already rounded third by the time Cabrera picked up the ball, and easily crossed home plate to increase the Angels’ lead to 6-0. Check out Cabrera’s funny gaffe in the GIF below. Filed under: Headlines, MLB, NESN Nation, Stephen Hewitt, Toronto Blue Jays

Melky Cabrera misfires horribly on throw from outfield against Angels (GIF)

In case you missed it, here’s Blue Jays leftfielder Melky Cabrera completely flubbing a throw during Thursday night’s 8-2 loss to the Angels. To say that Cabrera’s throw represents the Jays season thus far would be obvious and derivative… Apparently PEDs makes it possible for players to get negative distance on their throws from the outfield. Seems kind of counterproductive...

Report: Jays' Cabrera back to DL

The Toronto Blue Jays are expected to place left fielder Melky Cabrera back on the disabled list after he re-aggravated his left knee injury in Thursday night's game, MLB.com reports. "His knee flared up," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons told MLB.com. "He'll go on the DL and get an MRI tomorrow. It's probably similar to what he had last time." Cabrera...

During Friday night’s Jays-Angels game, L.A. outfielder JB Shuck absolutely robbed Toronto’s Jose Bautista of a home run in the 4th by going up and over the left field wall to make an amazing grab, before coming to rest in the stands amongst the beer swilling Angels fans… Shuck’s catch, a perfect combination of timing, skill and concentration, is truly a thing of beauty...

Blue Jays place Melky Cabrera, Dustin McGowan on the DL

Melky Cabrera was pulled from last night's game in the fourth inning.  He had been experiencing irritation in his left knee.  After the game, the Toronto Blue Jays placed the outfielder on the 15-day disabled list.  This seems to be a re-aggravation of a prior injury that had kept him on the DL. Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com says the Blue Jays hoped that by bringing Cabrera...

Have The Seeds For A Jose Bautista Trade Been Planted?

With the recent rumours from Danny Knobler of CBS Sports regarding the Texas Rangers interest in either Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista or Edwin Encarnacion, one has to wonder if the Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos would entertain a trade this offseason for one of his premier players. Surely this kind of deal would change the entire core of Toronto’s roster. In Bautista, gone would...

Blue Jays' Sergio Santos comes off DL, returns to the bullpen

The Toronto Blue Jays got Sergio Santos back in the bullpen yesterday after a lengthy absence.  Santos had missed the past four months because of an elbow injury.  The activation represents the end to a long and unexpected journey for Santos.  What seemed like a minor injury turned into one that has kept him out for most of the season. As Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com points...

Nickeas Plays Hero In Bisons Walk-Off

Bisons catcher Mike Nickeas couldn’t have picked a better time to hit his 1st home run of the season Saturday night as his 2-run shot lifted Buffalo to a crucial 5-3 victory over Pawtucket. “It was nice to see Mike come up and get a big hit because I know he’s scrambled this year offensively.” Bisons manager Marty Brown said following the contest. After getting off to an...

A season to forget for Blue Jays Josh Johnson
