BOWLING GREEN, KY- The Lake County Captains (4-1, 27-45) only had two hits on Monday but they had the big hit of the game in the ninth inning. Lake County defeated Bowling Green (3-2, 42-32) 1-0 in a pitcher’s duel.
Hot Rods’ starter Jeff Ames shutout the Captains with six innings of two-hit ball on May 13th. This time around, Ames threw six innings with only one hit allowed but earned a no-decision. Ames walked a season-high five batters and struck out two.
Lefty Ryan Merritt outdueled Ames with eight shutout innings, only allowing five hits in the process. He snapped a three game losing streak, dating back to a game against the Hot Rods on May 30th, where he pitched six innings of one-run ball.
The Captains scored the winning run in the top of the ninth inning. Shortstop Dorssys Paulino struck out swinging but reached on a wild pitch by Hot Rods reliever Nick Sawyer. First baseman Joe Sever stepped to the plate with one on and two out, hoping to be the hero. Sever li...

Bowling Green is preparing for the upcoming NCAA football season like hundreds of other teams across the nation, but the Falcons are warming up a bit differently than most other squads. We know this because we highly doubt there are many sports information directors out there who are willing to allow a 280-pound defensive lineman [...]
BOWLING GREEN, KY- The Lake County Captains (3-1, 26-45) took advantage of two early Bowling Green errors to build an early lead and withheld a rally by the Bowling Green Hot Rods (3-1, 41-31) to win the series opener on Sunday evening 4-3.
Lake County scored the first run of the game in the third inning. Second baseman Yhoxian Medina and third baseman Erik Gonzalez hit back-to-back...
No really, Bowling Green SID Dave Meyer gave new meaning to the term "Taking One for the Team".
In a promotional video for the schools upcoming season, Meyer allowed himself (in full pads), to be sacked by defensive tackle Ted Oullet.
Props to Meyer for coming up with a way to get viral video like attention, we just hope it was worth it, because...
Bowling Green sports information director Dave Meyer got exactly what he asked for: to be annihilated by defensive end Ted Ouellet.
Meyer (all 6-foot-1, 190 pounds of him) suited up in full pads and took a brutal hit from the 6-foot-3, 282-pound Ouellet, who recorded three sacks and six tackles for loss last season. Meyer, who has “next to zero athletic ability,” told SBNation...
BOWLING GREEN, KY- The Lake County Captains (5-1, 28-45) used three run sixth and ninth innings to complete a three-game sweep of the Bowling Green Hot Rods (3-3, 42-33). The Captains won the Tuesday matinee 6-3.
Right-hander Dylan Baker, who was named Indians Minor League Player of the Week prior to the game, made the start as he took on Taylor Guerrieri for the Hot Rods. Guerrieri...
Video: Sports Info Director gets jacked up
Bowling Green led the resurgent MAC in sacks last year but their defense didn't get as much national exposure or credit as some of the league's high-powered offenses did. SID Dave Meyer's plan to fix that began with either the ballsiest or stupidest viral campaign of the young season: sacrificing himself as the Falcons' "First Sack."
Meyer got all dolled...
Teams in the Mid-American Conference are known for their high scoring, Tuesday-Friday games, dramatic finishes and not much defense. Last year, Bowling Green made its defense a priority and went to a bowl game for the first time since 2009 because of it. Their defense wasn’t just good for MAC standards, it was in the top 10 nationally, allowing only 16.8 points per game.
