There have been plenty of “what just happened?” moments in sports, but none like this. An odd turn of events occurred in a high school hockey game in Minnesota on Tuesday night. Chaska High School was trailing by a goal to Farmington with just under three minutes to go when the unthinkable happened. Displeased goaltender Austin Krause decided this would be a good time to throw in the towel and leave with a bang. He proceeded to lay the puck in his own net and tie the game. Then things get better. Krause moved toward the exit area, flipping off members of the coaching staff and saluting the crowd before walking off. Oddly enough, Chaska was able to rally and score a power-play goal before time expired to give the school a 3-2 victory over Farmington. Rumor has it that Krause, a senior, was placed on the bench earlier in the season in favor of sophomore goalie Gage Overby, according to Minnesota high school hockey blog Follow the Puck. But Krause got the start on senior night because the sophomore goaltender was injured. Krause decided to take out his revenge on his team and coaches during a crucial moment on senior night. Thankfully, it did not end the way he wanted it to. Check out the video below (may be inappropriate for some readers).
