Tragedy struck at Turner Field this past Wednesday after a cameraman collapsed in the media workroom found underneath the stadium, suffering what appeared to be a heart attack. 61-year-old Reuben Porras was on assignment for MLB Network when he suddenly lost consciousness around noon. A colleague frantically searched for help and came upon Nationals head trainer Lee Kuntz (pictured left) and his training assistant John Hsu. The duo leaped into action, grabbing the newly installed automated external defibrillator(AED) before rushing to the fallen Porras’ side. They performed CPR, including using the AED, to help revive the man, then waited by his side until emergency services arrived. Sadly Porras did not survive the ordeal, passing away shortly after being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of a local hospital. From CSN Washington… Kuntz and Hsu grabbed an automated external defibrillator that had only been installed in the visiting clubhouse a week ago and rushed to the aid of Porras, who had lost consciousness and wasn’t breathing. Kuntz used the AED machine and CPR to revive the man, then waited for paramedics to arrive. Porras was taken to a nearby hospital and admitted to the ICU. Kuntz was still awaiting word of his fate shortly before the start of the Nationals’ game against the Braves. He later was informed Porras had died. Even though the outcome wasn’t what everyone involved had hoped for, at least Porras had a fighting chance, thanks to Kuntz and Hsu’s quick thinking and skilled training. Thoughts and prayers go out to Reuben Porras and his family.   The post MLB Network cameraman succumbs to heart attack despite valiant efforts of Nats trainers appeared first on Last Angry Fan.
