We’ve seen a few candidates for football “catch of the year,” most notably here and here, but I believe that this grab by Montana State WR Elvis Akpla tops them all.  Let’s just say that the few superlatives that I have in my extremely weak vocabulary couldn’t begin to do this catch justice, it’s just that good. Akpla, who immediately becomes the third greatest Elvis in history (behind Presley and a kid I knew back in middle school named Elvis Terryberry) not only grabs the ball behind the defender’s back (who has good coverage by the way), but he then holds onto the ball with one hand, secures it against his helmet as he goes to the ground, a la Super Bowl XLII hero David Tyree, continues to hang on to the football as he is flipped upside down, and finishes with the ball behind his back in his right hand.
