Found October 13, 2013 on Down and Distance:
The Seattle Seahawks’ 12th man had the glory of being the loudest fans on Earth, but it didn’t last long. On September 15th the Hawks Nest hosted the 49ers with the Guinness Book of World Records present, with intentions of setting the world record for the loudest crowd. They ended up setting the world record at 131.6 decibels, only to break it themselves in the third quarter – raising the bar to 136.6 decibels. This week, as the Chiefs hosted the Raiders – trying to break the Raiders’ streak of winning six straight at Arrowhead – along with the intentions of breaking the Seahawks record, Chiefs fans wanted to make it loud and uncomfortable for the Raiders. They did so, as they held the Raiders in check for most of the game and the noise attributed to several pre-snap penalties for the Silver and Black. The signs at Arrowhead even pushed the Chiefs fans, saying “Make Seattle Hear You” (Credit: SBNation) It took them a while, but the Chiefs fans did end up breaking Seattle’s record with a few minutes left in the game as the Chiefs sealed the deal against the Raiders 24 to 7 – setting the new one at 137.5 decibels     RECORD BROKEN! 137.5 DECIBELS! #LoudAndProud — Kansas City Chiefs (@KCChiefs) October 13, 2013 So a record that wasn’t official until just under a month ago has already been broken, and to be fair to Chiefs fans – they did it without a specially designed stadium that recycles crowd noise. Seahawks fans are a competitive group however, so I see them inviting the Guiness guys around again. Barely winning is not victory for the Seattle Seahawks

Marshawn Lynch had a beast-mode kind of day for the Seattle Seahawks: running tough and nimble on his way to 155 total yards and two scores. But he almost fumbled the game away near the goal-line in the fourth quarter. Zach Brown, seeing nothing but turf and end-zone before him, attempted to scoop up the ball but bounced it to Russell Wilson instead. Without that lucky bounce, Seattle...

Andy blames himself, not Alex, for Chiefs' sputtering offense

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- When you're 6-0 and coming off a 2-14 season, there really shouldn't be any complaining. There can't be a football fan or scout or executive anywhere on the planet who could have forecast the amazing turnaround general manager John Dorsey and coach Andy Reid have conducted with the Chiefs -- certainly not to the extent of a 6-0 start. But -- and...

Kansas City puts smile on Alex Smith's face

When asked if he believes in karma Alex Smith smiled. That's something he does a lot these days. "No" Smith said. "But I do believe in hard work and doing things the right way. Over time if it's karma or whatever you want to call it I think doing things the right way working hard and focusing on the details makes good things happen." Good things are...

Seahawks defense looking to rebound after loss to Colts: 'We should have been on it and we just weren’t'

The Seattle Seahawks defense had been playing some good football until Colts QB Andrew Luck and WR T.Y. Hilton hit them for big plays that resulted in a loss. The unit now is looking to get back to being dominating against the Tennessee Titans later on Today.

Titans score touchdown at end of half on crazy play vs. Seattle

The Seattle Seahawks almost didn’t get a chance to stop the clock before the half to kick a field goal because a referee bobbled the ball trying to spot it.  Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka is sidelined with a concussion after getting leveled during a kick return, so punter John Ryan was taking the kick.  Ryan is normally the holder, so the ball was bobbled and never set down...

Battered Jamaal Charles can’t continue to carry offensive load for Chiefs

Blood trickles down his left shin as Jamaal Charles explains to a reporter why he’s wearing only a towel. “Got these cuts” he says rubbing his arm and shoulder. “Can’t put clothes on just yet.” Charles is headed to the trainer’s room soon. Bandages will keep him clean and protect his clothes. He just got out of the cold tub. Hopefully the swelling will stay down this...

Fashion Glance: Seahawks cb Walter Thurmond’s suit fail

Personal style is subjective. But in some cases, that’s no excuse for flat out bad taste. Seattle Seahawks cb Walter Thurmond showed off a complicated look in the locker room on Sunday following the Seahawks win over the Titans. Thurmond rocked a tuxedo jacket, double breasted vest, ascot and derby. Too much going on for one look. He should’ve practiced the Coco Chanel rule for...

The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 6-0 on the season and have a new record to call their own. According to the Guinness Book of World Records Arrowhead Stadium has set the world record for loudest outdoor sporting event during Sunday's win over the Oakland Raiders. The previous record lasted less than a month. The Seattle Seahawks set the record during a Sept. 16 win over the...

Lynch, Seahawks top Titans

Tired of the comical errors, Marshawn Lynch and Richard Sherman did all the right things and the Seattle Seahawks remained perfect at home. Lynch ran for two touchdowns and had 155 all-purpose yards, Sherman got his third interception of the season early in the fourth quarter, and the Seahawks finally shook the Tennessee Titans for a 20-13 victory. Seattle (5-1) won its 11th straight...
