From Larry Brown Sports:

If you only plan on drinking Sam Adams during the Super Bowl, your list of potential spots to enjoy the game was just cut down by one.  As most of you know, Sam Adams is a company that is based out of Boston, Mass.  You may have seen their catchy commercials with the bald-headed, bearded guys talking about how many awards their main brew — Boston Lager — has taken home over the past year. Well Foley’s Pub in Manhattan will not be offering Sam Adams next Sunday.

“Foley’s NY Pub in NYC says it will not sell Sam Adams during Super Bowl game so as not to support a Boston-based brand,” Darren Rovell wrote on Twitter Friday.

But that’s not all.  The owner of Foley’s in New York, Shaun Clancy, has made a wager with Ken Casey, the lead vocalist for the Boston-based band the Dropkick Murphys and owner of McGreevy’s bar in Boston. According to the Boston Herald, the loser must donate the earnings from sales of shepherd’s pie from Super Bowl Sunday until MLB Opening Day to the charity of their choice.  In addition, the loser will have to bartend at the winner’s bar wearing the opposing teams jersey.

With two weeks between the conference championship games and Super Bowl Sunday, we all have to find ways to keep ourselves occupied.  Kudos to both bar owners for finding a way to do so in a productive manner.

  • Someone probably drank too much of that New York swill. ;) You remember that Title Town has had more success than you in spots in general for awhile now. Honestly though, why does beer have anything to do with it? Some people are so silly.
  • Well I mean Boston? Damn

Well one day we can hope Boston gets a professional baseball team.

    (Note I said Professional)

    Go Yankees
  • Congrats on the Yanks winning the World Series this year. Oops...sorry...they choked...again. Loser
  • Didn't the Red Sox's choke therefore not going into the playoffs unlike the Yankees who went? Oh right yeah they did. How many World Series do the Red Coxs have? Sure thought the Sos'x have nowhere near as many as the Yankees. LOL Choked again? We won the Series in 2009? When's the last time your team went? LOL LOSER
  • Well, the Sox won it in 04 when the yanks choked and lost the AL to the Sox at home. And then they won the WS in 07.Boston owns the yankmee's this last decade!

  • Yankies?!? Sox?!? I thought this was Football!!

    GO!! PATS!!
  • Yes they DO!!! Can't wait for the Pats to get THEIR revenge from 08!!!! GO PATS!!
  • NY is going down, they ran their mouths enough this season. Living on a prayer, good song for these Big Mouths. Pats-28 Giants-17 :-)
  • CHOKE, the national soft drink of the Skankees!!
  • Red Sox have more class than your sorry, over paid team! GO PATS!!!!
  • Lol they are bother overpaid, but the Yanks are just more overpaid.
  • This is what gets fans beat up in parking lots.
  • That's because these morons actually think that the players know who they are. Idiots, morons. To beat up someone for this shows that these dimwits have nothing else in life that matters, pretty freakin scary.
  • How's the Jests doing? Oops. How about them Knicks? Oops.
NY...the city where nobody sleeps..and the sports teams suck
  • i bet this loser never even sold boston beer, just doing this for hype!
  • Ironic the bar we celebrated Red Sox game 7 win at Yankee Stadium in 04 and they played nothing but Tess and Muddy Water and has a corner reserved for Joe Castiglione is not selling Boston beer, anything for marketing.
  • Look at the bald dude in the pictureI, It's that toolbag Fireman Eddie! I heard he was seen at Home Depot buying red and blue paint for his Jets Fireman's Helmet so He could change it up with Giants colors. New Yorkers are so weak jumping from team to team, even New Jersey teams...
  • I'm try to think of something We can boycott from NYC...But I can't honestly think of anything good that city produces...
  • Typical douch bag new yorkers,Id be embarrased at the juvenile BS.
  • Sam Adams beer is all hype anyway . Guinness is where it's at .
  • That's ok because in Boston their not serving "Assholes"

  • Who cares about what beer their serving. They'll all be CRYING in it when the Pats do to the Giants what they should've done in '08. GO PATRIOTS!!!!
  • NE-28, NY-17 GO PATS...
  • Yankees... Red Sox... Pats, Giants...
    Here is some real news!
NO ONE WEST OF THE ALLEGHANIES GIVES A RAT'SA$$!

You nut jobs live in your own little world as if the Yankees and Red Sox meant something to the rest of the country... THEY don't!

  • ............Foley's Pub would be doing ALL OF US a Great service it they would STOP Selling Foreign Owned Beverages , Like Budweiser , & "Bud Light" ,....& Focus on Micro-Breweries, Support Your Local "Brew Meister" ,...STOP Drinking those Mega Brand, Low-Gravity "Horse Piss" Beers & Stick With Home Grown Brews from your Local Region ,...Thanks You & Have A Great Weekend ,.......Socko from Atlanta....
  • Sports fan´s,bunch of loosers, congrats on the yankees, congrat´s on the giants, like they give a **** about all of you! They just care about making money, lmao get a life! they are so proud about some one else´s achivement´s! So what if they don´t serve that beer there,is that the only bar in NYC? Dumb ass!
  • What is truly amazing is the mentality of these NY & NE sport fans. After the Superbowl the winning team will go home with a ton of cash and so will the losing team (not as muc but WTF its not chicken feed) The moron fans will go home with no money from this game and the losing fans will be very upset. Over what? A freakin game? The Pats and The Giants don't pay my rent, I have to pay to see these rich idiots bang each others brains in. To get so upset that your team is being slighted, or mocked, come on! PLEASE give me a break morons, look at the big picture, IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER.
  • Guess Your team didn't make it to the playoffs this year? Al Pacino doesn't pay my rent so why go see his movies?
  • I APPLAUD YOU ON YOUR COMMENTS!!!! THIS DUMB A$$ DON'T SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND THAT LITTLE FACT- WIN OR LOSE THEIR WATER-BOYS WILL TAKE HOME MORE MONEY THEN I WILL WORKING IN A YEAR!!! ENJOY THE GAME BUT ENJOY RESPONSIBLY!!
  • The New York Giants are not shy about expressing their hatred of the Dallas Cowboys, and Thursday running back Brandon Jacobs said it was because of their "loud and obnoxious" fans.

OK MR BIG MOUTH Jacobs, we'll see how you do with New England and how you handle the NE Fans after you walk through that tunnel defeated from an A## Kicking Toughguy, This Dallas fan wants to see you eat some CROW Come Monday....prediction...NE-28, NY-17. Stay tunned...I called it last year, I'll call this too.
  • Worthless article. Shame about the beer. Just shows some adults are still juveniles.
  • boston will forever walk in the shadows of NY the greatest city in thr country boston will allways be know for drunk irish getting kick out of NY by itlians boston is only know for suck ass teams stupid accents nasty food and hateing on NY .F. the pats and every thing else up there
  • Btw, the food in Boston is actually quite good. And it certainly costs way less. Guess you might be too drunk of crappy beers to notice, though.
  • Way to represent your "greatest" city by being racist, a douche bag, out of touch with reality, and in general uninformed and incorrect. They call it Titletown for a reason. We've been winning it all since the turn of the Century. For the most part, we've own you here in Boston. Too bad the New Yorkers can't admit to being inferior to anything.
  • What another non-story. It's simple, beer has nothing to do with anything. It just some douche bag New Yorker trying to get more sales. Why should anyone care? Sad that it would matter to some people. I still don't see what alcohol has to do with sports.
