Despite nearly brawling with San Antonio Spurs’ color commentator, Sean Elliott (a tiff that got him a two-game suspension), and his more recent blow-out with head coach, Keith Smart (which also resulted in suspension), the Sacramento Kings, or more importantly their owners, are still reluctant to deal away their troubled big man, DeMarcus Cousins.

So why does a team, who already has it’s share of issues, cling to the dysfunctional hope that “Boogie” Cousins is still their guy and still worth the painstaking project that is the idea of DeMarcus becoming less of an issue.

To quote a move I have seen 20 times (The Girl Next Door).. “Is the juice worth the squeeze?”

I always found that to be a pretty incredible quote for some odd reason, and I believe in the case of DeMarcus Cousins, this quote really hits the nail on the head. Is DeMarcus Cousins worth all of his nonsense? I honestly do not know. But the Maloofs are certainly contemplating this exact question right now. They’re hesitant to deal away the big fella because he has SO MUCH talent. This truly is a case of talent versus a headache.

The Boston Celtics and the Detroit Pistons are reportedly two of the teams inquiring about the services of Cousins, and you can’t blame them. I believe Boston would be an ideal place for Cousins to land. The leadership of Doc Rivers, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce would more than likely play a dramatic role on Cousins’ development as a player and a man.

“Boogie” needs a home with veteran leadership. A place where players and coaches won’t take his attitude. He needs somebody to look up to, and there isn’t anyone who remotely resembles a leader on the current Sacramento Kings’ roster. That’s just the harsh reality of the situation. To put it plainly, DeMarcus needs a role model.

Sacramento has a Cousins problem
