PLAYERS: Lolo Jones

Via NESN:

Track & field Olympian Lolo Jones is trying to make it in the world of bobsledding, and she’s finding out the hard way how little the winter sport pays.

Jones voiced her displeasure with the $741.84 check she received from the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation in a Vine video posted Monday. That’s a pretty small pay day for seven months of work, but one of the most decorated bobsledders of all time is not exactly sympathetic to her plight.

“It wasn’t taken very well,” Olympic gold medalist Steven Holcomb told USA Today. “People were really kind of insulted. You just made $741, more than most athletes in the sport. So what are you complaining about?

“The way it came across to a lot of the athletes here was kind of snobby because she’s one of the most well-known athletes in the world and she’s making pretty good money in endorsements [as a two-time Olympic hurdler]. And to basically turn around and slap us in the face because you didn’t make any money this year in bobsledding while taking money from other’s athletes? She slapped pretty much every athlete in the U.S. federation in the face. That was the general consensus.”

  • I've looked a her pictures and..... I don't see it....
  • She must have one very big foot, since she can't seem to extract it from her mouth...
  • With no disrespect to the professional bobsledders that have integrity, maybe she needs to stop sleigh riding and find a real job. let her flip burgers for $8 an hour.

As it turns out, bobsledding doesn’t pay so well. Jones tweeted out a Vine video on Monday morning, showing off her check...

Lolo Jones is pretty. If she wasn’t pretty, a lot of the dumb stuff she says and does wouldn’t be overlooked so easily. Her latest prank gone wrong was complaining about the $741 check she got for bobsledding via Vine. This is the same Lolo Jones who said she was just competing for the love of the sport and to win a gold medal. “Seven months with bobsled season. The whole season...

Nate Robinson Jumps Through Glass Door, Finally Finds Amusing Use for Vine (Video)

Nate Robinson has some hops. When you’re 5-foot-9 and can still and can still dunk, suffice it to say you’ve got some pretty good vertical lift on your jump. So perhaps, then, it’s no surprise that Robinson apparently likes jumping every chance he gets — even when he’s not on the court. Robinson showed off another use for his jump when he posted a video to Vine on Monday...

Is Miguel Cabrera this generation’s Hank Aaron?

On June 20, 2003, Miguel Cabrera struck out in his first big league at bat.  He’d get the last laugh however. In the bottom of the eleventh inning the 20-year-old rookie hit a two-run home run to help his then-Florida Marlins to a 3-1 victory over the then-Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Now, I bring that up only to awkwardly segue into this. Friday, the reigning American League MVP turned...
