While starting in place of injured running back Felix Jones, DeMarco Murray has rushed for 466 yards and one touchdown in three games. He has also set the Dallas Cowboys' single-game rushing record in the process. Having early success as a rookie, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones sees similarities between the former Oklahoma standout and a Pro Football Hall of Famer. "He kind of has a glide a little like Eric Dickerson used to," Jones said Tuesday during his weekly radio appearance on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM). "He has a certain smoothness. His glide, he doesn't lift his feet as much as Dickerson did, but the other thing he reminds me of is he runs with such acceleration and power." Jones added: "He really throws that weight around. You have some backs, 235-pound backs, 240, they don't run. They run on their toes and they don't run with power. He's 220 pounds, 225 pound back who runs with even more power and runs with more impact than his weight." As a rookie with the Rams in 1983, the 6-3, 220-pound Dickerson, rushed for 1,808 yards and 18 touchdowns. The former SMU superstar played 11 seasons in the NFL, finishing with 13,259 rushing yards. In his first career start, Murray rushed for a franchise-record 253 yards in a 34-7 victory over St. Louis. Although Murray has been impressive with his increased workload, neither Jerry Jones or head coach Jason Garrett have committed to keeping him as the starter when Felix Jones returns from a high ankle sprain. And Jerry Jones said Tuesday that he doesn't believe it matters to Murray or Felix Jones either way. "Both of them split reps when they were in college," the owner said. "That's not an issue at all." -- Follow Jon Machota on Twitter: @jonmachota
