Back in the 90′s we know the Bulls were basically unstoppable in real life. If you played a lot of NBA Jam like I did though, you knew that the Bulls could be beaten. One reason is because back then Michael Jordan did not license his likeness for video games. The other is because the lead designer and Pistons fan Mark Turmell wrote the code so the Bulls sucked late in games: “If there was a close game and anyone on the Bulls took a last second shot, we wrote special code in the game so that they would average out to be bricks. There was the big competition back in the day between the Pistons and the Bulls, and since I was always a big Pistons fan, that was my opportunity to level the playing field.” He also said that when the Bulls played the Pistons in the game, there was code written in the game to lower Scottie Pippen’s rating. Wow that’s some cold world type stuff right there. I guess Turmell didn’t want to hear “He’s on fire!!” about Pippen in the game like he did in real life.
