Ndamukong Suh was criticized by an anonymous teammate in a Yahoo! Sports report last week, and the Detroit Lions defensive lineman has finally responded to the comments. Suh says he doesn’t believe the quotes are true. “I don’t care,” Suh said, via MLive.com. “You know where my locker is if you got something to say to me. In my heart of hearts, I don’t think it’s true. It’s unfortunate that things are written like that, but if it is true, it is true. If it’s not, it’s not.” Suh may say he doesn’t care, but he went on to defend himself in response. “Coming from high school, I didn’t win championships. I won a personal championship in winning shot-put, so in essence, I know how to win individually. As a team, I’ve gone far with my football teams. We went deep into the playoffs in high school. We went to some big bowl games in college and played in some huge games. One of my last games in college was a pretty big game. It was the Big 12 championship. “I’ve been there. I’ve done a lot of things. I’ve been fortunate for that. I feel like being able to go back on those examples, and being through those particular things, I’ve had an inkling of how to win. It’s been a little bit different in the league, but we had a pretty good year last year. Not saying it was the best year, because we still lost six games, but you have some sense of knowing how to get things done.” There is only so much one player can do in a team game like football, especially someone like Suh who plays on the defensive line. Nobody, except for Warren Sapp, will deny that Suh is an impact player. But the problem is like what the anonymous teammate said — Suh is great 90 percent of the time, but then he’ll do something stupid 10 percent of the time and that costs the team. It’s the personal fouls and over-pursuit of the quarterback that Suh needs to alter in order to improve. Photo credit: John David Mercer-US PRESSWIRE
