Pass The Pill:
The Brooklyn Nets have been incredibly active in trade talks but have not been able to acquire anyone with their not-so-glamorous package of Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks and a draft pick. They wanted Dwight, then they wanted Josh Smith, and now they are trying to acquire a player GM Billy King wanted last season, Turkish stud Ersan Ilyasova. According to ESPNs Marc Stein:
Nets have made play this week for Milwaukee’s Ersan Ilyasova, I’m told, but their trusty Kris Humphries/MarShon Brooks bundle was rejected
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) February 21, 2013
The Milwaukee Bucks believe in Ilyasova, so much that they rewarded him last offseason with a 5 year, $40 million dollar deal. He is an excellent rebounder and doesn’t get the credit he deserves as a perimeter shooter where he connects on 44% of his attempts.
The Nets continue to pursue the top available players as the trade deadline approaches but nobody seems to be interested in their standard package. It is unlikely they get a deal done at this point with their limited assets. Meanwhile, the Bucks appear to be in the best position to get a deal done for a marque player.

Deron Williams has consistently been an all-star throughout his career. So after managing to put up averages of just 16.7 ppg, and 7.6 assists so far this season, Williams missed his first all-star game in years. As questions about his weight and injuries continue to float around someone finally decided to come to the defense of Williams. His coach.

Although the Nets have been at the forefront of trade chatter in the last couple of weeks, most notably for wanting to rid themselves of Kris Humphries, team GM, Billy King, says the chances of a trade happening before Thursday’s deadline is at 10%.
According to ESPN NY:

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Five points separated the Nets and the Bucks in their home-and-home set, and Brooklyn came away with two straight last-second victories.
Deron Williams scored 23 points and the Nets escaped with a 97-94 victory on Wednesday night after Milwaukee's Monta Ellis missed a chance to tie the game with three foul shots in the final seconds.

If the Brooklyn Nets want Josh Smith, Paul Pierce or Ersan Ilyasova, they need to offer a sweeter deal than Kris Humphries and MarShon Brooks. The Nets have shopped the pair to Atlanta, Boston and Milwaukee and, so far, no one is interested.
The play for J-Smoove has long been rumored.
The Celtics and Nets reportedly talked about a deal for Pierce that included Brooklyn sending...
The Brooklyn Nets public relations staff’s Twitter account knocked it out of the park with this dynamite nugget they dropped following the team’s 113-111 overtime win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday:

Joe Johnson put on a show Tuesday night as his Brooklyn Nets hosted the Milwaukee Bucks, hitting two clutch shots when his teamed need them most.
With the Nets down 105-102 late in the fourth, Johnson spotted up at the top of the key and nailed a deep three-pointer with one second left to send the game into overtime.
Then, Johnson did it again. With just over four seconds left and...
The closer the calendar gets to Thursday's NBA trade deadline, the more rumors get thrown against the wall, with only a fraction of them actually sticking.
Everything heard this time of year must be taken with heavy skepticism, but those plugged in around the league can usually pinpoint the teams making the most phone calls. This year, three teams have been listed by many as...
The Nets have offered Marshon Brooks and Kris Humphries along with a first round pick for Paul Pierce. Celtics politely declined. This according to Wojo.
He has more about the KG to the Clippers rumor in that article as well. Sounds like it'd have to be a domino thing where Pierce gets dealt and then KG waives his no-trade clause and accepts the deal.

Jerry Stackhouse took an active role in the NBPA's meeting on Saturday that led to the dismissal of executive director of Billy Hunter.
The Milwaukee Bucks have the assets to make a major trade. The Bucks have a lot of assets -- Monta Ellis, Brandon Jennings, Ersan Ilyasova and a ridiculous number of expiring contracts -- to get a deal done. One of those assets, Ellis, has piqued the curiosity of the Atlanta Hawks, who are more and more likely to move star forward Josh Smith.
ESPN's Marc Stein reported...
Paul Pierce still seems likely to stay put in Boston, but that is not stopping other teams from trying. The Brooklyn Nets, who reportedly were close to acquiring Pierce in a trade last season when the team was in New Jersey, have made another offer for the Celtics captain.

Brandon Jennings wants out, but he’s a restricted free agent next summer. So he’s got less room to move, as opposed to Monta Ellis. Ellis may very well leave $11 mil on the table in order to become a free agent next season. This is huge, and best believe Ellis can be a legitimate contributor to a true contender next season. The Bucks are on the verge of losing their anchors.
The Nets are offering Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks and a first round pick for Paul Pierce.
Milwaukee and Atlanta are "seriously" discussing a deal that would send Josh Smith and Devin Harris to the Bucks and Monta Ellis and Ekpe Udoh, among other players, to the Hawks, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
One of those other players may be Beno Udrih. ESPN's Marc Stein reported that a trade sending the backup point guard to the Dallas Mavericks...
