The New York Giants are continuing to trim their roster. Three players have been released so far this week clearing roughly $14 million in cap space. LB Michael Boley was the first player released this week. On Wednesday, the Giants released two players. RB Ahmad Bradshaw was shown the door and then later in the afternoon, the team parted ways with DT Chris Canty.
Canty, 30, inked a six-year $42 million dollar deal with the Giants in 2009. He started all 16 games in 2010 and 2012, but was plagued with injuries in the 2012 campaign, appearing just nine games.
Canty has a large frame at 6-foot-7 and weighs in at 320 pounds. His best career year came in 2011 when he recorded 47 tackles and four sacks. He logged three sacks in 2012 in limited action. He should have no problems finding a suitor for his services on the free agent market.
