The Dallas Cowboys reportedly cannot sign any draft picks until after June 1. The hang-up is related to the way they cut Terence Newman, who took up $6 million of salary cap space, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The defensive back, though released two months ago, was listed on the books as a June 1 cut for financial reasons, which means his cap space will not be available until after this month. That problem is compounded because the Cowboys have about $2.14 million in cap space left. Their pool for signing rookies is about $5.7 million. It is unclear how the Cowboys salary-cap fines for spending too much in the uncapped 2010 season plays into this. However, the Star-Telegram reported the Cowboys are interested in free-agent wide receiver Jacoby Jones, but are held back because of their salary cap issue.
