As expected, the NFL trade deadline was a huge nothing for the Lions. No moves were made today. Zip. Zero. Nada. As far as we know, the Lions were not involved in any trade talks, of any kind.
The only player movement involving Detroit didn't involve the deadline at all, as the Dolphins signed away the Lions' 7th round draft pick, OT Lydon Murtha, off of the practice squad. (Murtha showed some potential, but if he can't unseat any of the revolving doors ahead of him on the tackle depth chart //cough//JeffBackus//cough//, how good could he be?)
The NFL trade deadline, unlike the other pro leagues (MLB, NHL, NBA), is a joke. In the other leagues, championships can be won, or for that matter, lost, by trade deadline moves. In the NFL, nothing of importance happens.
Honestly, I don't know why the NFL even bothers with a trade "deadline." Few NFL GM's have the balls, or the cap room, to make any sort of significant move to improve their roster for a playo...
