PLAYERS: Jeremy Jacobs
So some National Hockey League players will meet face-to-face with NHL owners Tuesday. Is there any hope for a new collective bargaining agreement that would end the ongoing lockout? Or will the NHL keep marching toward brand suicide? We shall see. There was a spasm of optimism in the Twitterverse Tuesday, but it faded quickly. Here is what folks were saying today:Jeremy Rutherford: “Steve Burton of @wbzsports in Boston is reporting that a deal to end the lockout could be announced soon. Burton is very tuned into Bruins.”Jesse Spector: “WBZ is a perfectly fine news source, and it is in Jeremy Jacobs’ team’s city. Full credit if they’re right, but . . . I’m also not going to get all fired up over “could.” Way too many incidents of false hope throughout this saga.”Adrian Dater: “For the record, nothing I've been told would back up WBZ story. I hope it's right, but...ain't making plane reservations to Calgary yet.”Sarah Kwak: “Asked if there was ANY MORSEL of truth to WBZ repo

Eklund: Meet The Five Men Who Are Just Going to Do WHATEVER Jacobs Says.

Eklund: Players Preparing Response. What is the deal with Jacobs?

We are waiting today on whether or not the players will agree to a one on ones cage match with the owners this week. It is widely known the only owner the players are very much against being in these meetings is Jeremy Jacobs. While the...

GARTH: Miller Must Represent The Players On Tuesday

If I get my Christmas wish, Ryan Miller will be seated three feet away from Bruins owner, Jeremy Jacobs, for the owners-NHLPA meeting which is scheduled to take place in Manhattan on Tuesday 12/4. Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Lockout 'Script'; '94-'95 Redux?; Results Roundup

Will there be any CBA progress this week? I'm still not ready to say the 2012-13 season will be canceled. But I don't have much optimism about this week's NHLPA/NHL owners' meetings. I suspect both sides continuing to dig in their heel and more time being wasted. I felt that way even before it was confirmed that Jeremy Jacobs will be part of the meeting, and now...
