Prince Fielder and Albert Pujols are the top prizes in this current group of MLB free agents, and both would fit nicely at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. But the power hitting first basemen will come at an extremely high price, possibly in the seven years, 200 million-range. While either would be a tremendous offensive upgrade, Rangers president and CEO Nolan Ryan said Thursday night that the two-time defending American League champions were probably not going to add Fielder or Pujols. "Making a seven-or-eight year deal for Fielder or Pujols is not something our organization is prepared to do," Ryan told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram . "I very much expect Mitch Moreland to be our first baseman next year." Fielder, 27, has hit 228 home runs during his six seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers . Pujols, 31, has hit 445 homers over his 11 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals. Both players' home run totals could see a significant increase by playing half the season at the hitter-friendly park in Arlington. Moreland, 26, battled through wrist tendinitis and his numbers slumped during the second half of last season. During the playoffs, he hit .103 with three RBIs and two homers in 29 plate appearances. Despite the struggles, Ryan envisions better days for Moreland in a Rangers uniform. "We truly believe Mitch's career is ahead of him," Ryan said. Follow Jon Machota on Twitter: @jonmachota
