The Northern Illinois men’s basketball team set the NCAA Division I record for fewest points scored in a half earlier this season with 5 against Dayton. The 4-14 Huskies decided to add some spice to their ugly season and one-up their dubious record in today’s game versus Eastern Michigan. Northern Illinois scored 4 total points in the first half — yes, 4.  They shot a mind-boggling 3.2 percent (1-for-31) from the floor during the opening period, also a record. For further amusement, the Huskies’ Abdel Barber scored one minute into the game to give his team the 2-0 lead.  They would miss their next 29 shots. “Our guys played hard,” Huskies coach Mark Montgomery said. Somehow Montgomery’s squad managed 21 points in the second half to quadruple their shooting percent to 13.1 percent for the game. Others numbing statistics included 1-for-33 (3 percent) from three-point range and their starters combined to shoot 4-for-26 (15.3 percent) for the game. Luckily for Northern Illinois, the game was played away at Eastern Michigan because it would have been embarrassing otherwise.     var conf_57806 = { APIKey: '2_N1YlfjHIEAtyRAK3CAYRE5a1aBuANuMOCLc_7hsOQ13HnwCrW_u-6OuDhjC7vR06 ', lang : 'en', enabledProviders: '' }; var image57806 = {src:'http://cdn.cosbysweaters.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Mark-Montgomery.jpg',href:'http://cosbysweaters.com/2013/01/26/northern-illinois-scores-4-points-in-first-half/',type:'image'}; var ua_57806 = new gigya.services.socialize.UserAction(); ua_57806.setUserMessage(''); ua_57806.setLinkBack('http://cosbysweaters.com/2013/01/26/northern-illinois-scores-4-points-in-first-half/'); ua_57806.setTitle('Northern Illinois Scores 4 Points in First Half '); ua_57806.addMediaItem(image57806); var params_57806 ={ userAction:ua_57806, cssPrefix:'#gig-div-buttons-57806-bottom', shareButtons:'facebook-like,google-plusone,share,twitter,email', // list of providers containerID: 'gig-div-buttons-57806-bottom', cid:'' }; gigya.services.socialize.showShareBarUI(conf_57806,params_57806); Article found on: Cosby Sweaters
