TEAMS:
Florida Gators
Florida announced on Wednesday that right-hander Karsten Whitson is out indefinitely with shoulder fatigue. The original plan was to sit him for the first two weeks of the season and make his first start against Miami, but the Gators will take a cautious approach and shut Whitson down for an undisclosed amount of time. The Gators will continue preparing for Friday’s season opener without him.

Young stays disciplined against Wildcats
It only took 1:38 off the clock for the worst-case scenario to take place. Florida center Patric Young picked up an early foul, and a frontcourt without much depth was tested right away. Prather brings energy off the bench
The Gators don’t need points out of Casey Prather. Since the loss of forward Will Yeguete for the remainder of the regular season, Florida has needed Prather to bring energy and do the little things that made Yeguete invaluable. In the two games Yeguete has been out, Prather has posted a season-high 12 points in each of them, but that’s not where his true value to the Gators comes.
