New York Islanders general manager Garth Snow continues to have a busy off-season re-signing his key players.
Today the Islanders announced the re-signing of right wing Kyle Okposo to a five-year contract extension.
Financial terms weren't disclosed but it's believed his new deal will be worth a total of $14 million, back-loaded over those five years, meaning he'll earn more over each year of the deal. Ultimately it'll be worth an average cap hit of $2.8 million per season.
Okposo, 23, played in only 38 games last season, missing most of it to a shoulder injury suffered in pre-season, netting a total of 20 points.
But in 2009-10, his sophomore campaign, Okposo has 19 goals and 52 points in 80 games, and given his youth could develop into a play-making star with the Islanders.
