In late December, Ohio State University President, E. Gordon Gee, spoke at the school’s athletic council meeting and made some not so flattering remarks about the University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky. The audio from the meeting is just now surfacing, which is why this has become a story nearly six months later.
When asked about the rumors of the Big Ten looking to possible add Louisville, this is what Mr. Gee had to say.
The top goal of Big Ten presidents is to “make certain that we have institutions of like-minded academic integrity,” Gee said. “So you won’t see us adding Louisville,” a member of the Big East conference that is also joining the ACC.
After a pause followed by laughter from the audience, Gee added that the Big Ten wouldn’t add the University of Kentucky, either.
Louisville and Kentucky weren’t the only two institutions that President Gee took shots at. He also blasted the Southeastern Conference as a whole and mocked Notre Dame.
