From the moment that this matchup was announced early last month, it’s been a rather sore subject. The Huskies, who finished the season 12-1, recently received some added motivation.
An exchange reportedly took place the other night in a hospitality suite.
“You guys [NIU] don’t even deserve to be here,” an Orange Bowl rep told an NIU staffer. “We didn’t even want you here.”
After the Orange Bowl representative compared Northern Illinois to Duke, the NIU rep responded by pointing out that the Huskies, who are riding a 12-game winning streak, have made it to a bowl game for the fifth consecutive season.
