Gearing up for the season

Oregon Ducks head football coach Chip Kelly has been known to be a little unconventional. From the style of offense he runs to his relationship with the media, Kelly has always been one of the more interesting coaches to cover in college football.

And yet, a post by assistant coach Scott Frost on his Twitter account may have set the bar for which all “Chipisms” must compare to.

Check it out:

Yep. This happened. We ran. #Pamplona #sanfermin2012 #vamospatos twitter.com/coach_frost/st…

Yup, University of Oregon head football coach Chip Kelly and his assistant Scott Frost ran with the bulls in Spain.

Taking time out of their busy schedules to enjoy life a little before football really kicks into gear, Kelly and Frost reportedly took a “short” 8 day trip to Europe.

And what better way to relax than running with a set of 2,000 – 3,000 bulls charging at your heals?

Running with the Bulls in Pamplona

For Kelly and Frost, there is no better way to relax. With yet another Pac-12 season that is sure to test Oregon to the fullest (with USC back in the mix and revitalized teams such as Washington and Cal), running with the bulls must seem like a walk in the park for these two coaches.

Both Oregon coaches took part in this popular event at the festival of San Fermin, an annually held celebration in the city of Pamplona (Navarre, Spain) from the 6th of July to midnight on the 14th of July. The festival draws around 1,000,000 people, making it one of the most popular celebration in Spain.

Luckily enough for Oregon fans, Kelly and Frost both made it out alive. The two are now stateside preparing for what is sure to be yet another stellar season for the Oregon Ducks.

The Ducks, who are one of the favorites to contend for the Pac-12 Title, come into the season ranked number four in most preseason polls.

Though there are questions surrounding their starting quarterback (whether it be Bryan Bennett or Marcus Mariota), Oregon has the talent in place to win every game this season.

Returning stars such as DeAnthony Thomas, Kenjon Barner Michael Clay, and Dion Jordan should help Oregon bring their own version of the “running of the bulls” to a football field this coming fall.

One has to ask, however, wouldn’t Frost and Kelly have been able to run just a little faster if Nike threw a little Oregon flare into those outfits?

It does not appear the arms race in college athletics is slowing down anytime soon.  Luxurious facilities are sprouting up across the country in major college athletic departments, with the renovations at the University of Oregon turning the most heads.  Nike’s Phil Knight is contributing a significant portion of the funds for the new $68 million football operations center...

Care For a Soak, Chip Kelly?

What do you get for the college football coach who has everything?  How does a private hot tub next to your office sound?  That awaits Chip Kelly - along with a built-in waterproofed video center, so he doesn't lose sight of the important stuff - at Oregon's new palatial football facility slated to open in 2013. Other amenities include a skylink between the football...

Phil Knight adding football operations facility at Oregon, Chip Kelly will NOT have personal hot tub

One of the big stories of the day has been the new football operations facility that is being built in Eugene at the University of Oregon.  Like many of their buildings, it is being donated completely by Phil Knight.  The University has leased the land to Knight, who is developing this $68 million facility and in turn, he will hand over the keys to the University upon completion...

Are these Oregon’s new uniforms?

Someone please tell me that this picture is just a concept or a fan photoshop of the Oregon Duck football team’s new uniforms. Oregon is known for having some crazy uniforms under head coach Chip Kelly but this is crazy. Why would your uniform have a neckerchief? A neckerchief. Nike has a factory in Oregon that pumps out some awesome uniforms but this is just insanity. They will...

Chip Kelly takes his talents to Pamplona

Chip Kelly apparently ran with the bulls, and no, this is not meant to be some sort of “CHIP KELLY TO SOUTH FLORIDA” rumor situation. He literally [Rob Lowe voice] ran with the bulls. The photo above was posted on Scott Frost’s (the Duck’s WR coach) Twitter page, and gives a taste of how the [...]

Duck 2012 Preview: Running Backs

Very few coaches in the Pac-12 are feeling sorry for Chip Kelly and the Oregon Ducks because of the loss of LaMichael James to the San Francisco 49ers. James was the conference leading rusher for two straight years and finished career with a total of 5,082 yards in three years.

Oregon HC Chip Kelly ran with the Bulls in Pamplona?

Have you done anything exciting or out of the ordinary this summer? Oregon head football coach Chip Kelly apparently has. Oregon wide receivers coach Scott Frost (on the right) tweeted out the post below with himself Kelly and an unknown third person allegedly in Spain for the annual act of stupidity time honored tradition known as the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona. Yep. This...

Duck 2012 Preview: Quarterbacks

Oregon fans were shocked when last year's starting quarterback Darron Thomas opted to pursue the NFL. The loss was mitigated because Bryan Bennett showed he could win. Last spring, that shock was abated when Marcus Mariota broke off a long touchdown run in the spring game. Now the question is, who will be the new Duck signal caller, Mariota or Bennett?
